Vision and  Mission Statement - The ABC'S of Faith

 

THe MISSion from Jesus Christ is to make disciples per Matthew 28:19-20: 
            “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

 

What is a disciple? 
            A disciple is a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Our mission statement summarizes what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ: “The people of Faith share Christ’s love and make disciples.” Christ’s disciples love God, share Christ’s love with others, serve the world and make other disciples.  

How do I become a disciple?
            Confessing Christ as Lord and Savior makes you a follower. Coming to church does not make you a disciple any more than sitting in a garage makes you a car. Disciples believe, follow, and commit their lives to the ways and work of Christ. We believe there are three primary actions that all disciples of Jesus Christ: CONNECT with Christ, DEEPEN in God, and ENGAGE their faith. There are many ways to accomplish these principles. Below is the path to discipleship that we believe will best fit our community at Faith UMC.
